We are super excited to be hosting the Northern Gold Coast Rotary Book Fair again this year.

After the phenomenal success of last year’s event, Club Member, Joyce Durey, said the Club is excited to once again host this very popular event. “We had thousands of people attend the fair last year, with several coming in each day!” She is planning a bigger, better event this year, where everyone is welcome to come along and browse the range on offer and take home some great books at very low prices.

“There are books across all genres that have either been donated to Rotary or have been culled by some local or school libraries,” she said, “It's a not-for-profit event with all proceeds going back into the Rotary Club to support local northern Gold Coast community programs.”

“We want to encourage people with a love of reading and hopefully spread that love of reading throughout the community. With technology being such a huge part of our lives today, it’s wonderful that reading books is still a much-loved activity.”

The Oxenford and Coomera Youth Centre features Leo’s Community Café which is run by young people from the local community, and they will be serving great coffee and delicious snacks throughout the duration of the Book Fair. And Miss Jen (from the Centre’s playgroup) will be reading stories to children in ‘Read and Grow’ sessions in the Story Corner at various times across the Book Fair.

The dedicated team of volunteers has been working away sorting donated books over the past few months and more books are always needed. If anyone has any books they may wish to donate to the fair, please let the Coomera Valley Rotary team know on coomeravalleyrotary@gmail.com
The Rotary Book Fair will kick off from Friday 14 April from 9am to 4pm. “It will continue on Saturday 15 April and again on Sunday from 9am to 4pm at the Oxenford & Coomera Youth Community Centre” Joyce said.

“The whole community is invited to come along for a browse and pick up a good book (or several!) and the community cafe will be open so you can sit and enjoy your coffee, reading your purchases straight away!”
