The inaugural Northern Gold Coast Rotary Book Fair was a huge success. We are so grateful for the huge support from the local community – it was wonderful to see so many people from our local area inside the Oxenford Community Centre, browsing and buying the books. And it is great to see so many people with a love of reading and/or books – especially all the children.

We are also so very grateful to local businesses and community groups for their support – these include Cllr. William Owen Jones – Division 2 Gold Coast and Mark Boothman – MP for Theodore for their support before and during the event, Bunnings Oxenford, the Oxenford and Coomera Community Youth Centre, Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort, Precinct Brewing, Cauldron Distillery. And of course, without the wonderful members of our sister club – the Northern Gold Coast Rotaract Club - the event would not have been possible, and we are hugely grateful for their mammoth efforts.
The books have been sold and the tables packed away and we will now allocate the proceeds from the event to be used to support local community projects.

Projects that we have supported in the last year include:
UPPER COOMERA ANZAC DAY SERVICE – at the Upper Coomera cenotaph – another great event where the local community comes together in mutual respect
FOR KIDS IN CARE - a local charity based in Oxenford that provides Christmas presents to children within the residential care system, who otherwise would not receive anything at Christmas and also backpacks with basic essentials when children arrive into residential care throughout the year
LOCAL UPPER COOMERA FAMILY – with a child with a disability with support to obtain a specially modified vehicle for their specific requirements
OXENFORD STATE SCHOOL BREAKFAST CLUB – with support to assist the club provide breakfast for children who may not have breakfast at home
LJ’S MAMA’S HELPING MAMAS – a charity based in Mudgeeraba who support Foster Care families and children in crisis care
MAKE WAYS FOUNDATION – a charity based on the Coast who are working to provide sports gear to orphans in war-ravaged Sierra Leone and whose mission is to Make meaningful Ways for people to thrive, through locally-led, globally supported programs
